Janine Jansen Plays Bartók
Dutch violinist Janine Jansen reveals Bartók’s passionate side in his 1st Violin Concerto – the Hungarian composer wrote the work for the violinist Stefi Geyer, in whom he was madly in love. Bayern 4 Klassik will broadcast the concert by the Munich Philharmonic under Paavo Järvi on December 23 at 7:05 P.M. Also featured on the program are Bartók’s Rhapsody for Violin and Orchestra, Britten’s transcription of the 2nd movement of Mahler’s Symphony No. 3 as well as the 6th Symphony by Dmitry Shostakovich.
