Miguel Harth-Bedoya is one of the most exciting young conductors to emerge on the U.S. conducting scene in recent years. Newly appointed Music Director of the Fort Worth Symphony and Associate Conductor of the Los Angeles Philharmonic, he is also Music Director of the Eugene Symphony in Oregon and the Auckland Philharmonia in New Zealand. His active guest conducting schedule in both the U.S. and Europe includes appearances with the New York Philharmonic, Chicago Symphony, Philadelphia Orchestra, Baltimore Symphony, Seattle Symphony, Indianapolis Symphony, Florida Orchestra, Oregon Symphony, San Antonio Symphony, Phoenix Symphony, Colorado Symphony, NDR Orchestra, (Hamburg), Birmingham Symphony, Jerusalem Symphony and the Mexico National Symphony, among others. Festival appearances include Ravinia, Tanglewood, Hollywood Bowl, Grant Park, Interlochen, Oregon Bach, Round Top, Adelaide and Avanti (Helsinki).

Also a successful opera conductor, Mr. Harth-Bedoya has directed numerous productions with the New Opera Company of Peru, including La Bohème, Le nozze di Figaro, Xerxes, Die lustige Witwe and La Sonnambula. In Italy, he led this century´s first performance of Martin y Soler´s Il Tutore Burlato. The performance was subsequently recorded for the Bongiovanni label in Bologna. In the spring of 2002 he will return to the opera stage to conduct Stephen Paulus´s new opera Heloise & Abelard at The Juilliard School.

Miguel Harth-Bedoya served four years as Music Director of the New York Youth Symphony, a highly competitive and talented orchestra that receives consistently high critical acclaim for its annual four-concert series in Carnegie Hall. He has also been Artistic Director of the Philharmonic Orchestra of Lima and the New Opera Company of Peru. Mr. Harth-Bedoya led The Juilliard Orchestra on highly successful tours of France and Japan, and has collaborated with such distinguished soloists as Mstislav Rostropovich, Isaac Stern, Gary Graffman and Joshua Bell.

Born in Lima, Peru, Miguel Harth-Bedoya holds degrees in conducting from the Curtis Institute of Music and The Juilliard School.
