Matthias Weber

The musician was born in 1956 and studied double bass with Ulrich Lau at the Stuttgart Music Academy. He began his first engagement in 1981 in the orchestra of the Norwegian city of Bergen. Two years later, Matthias Weber became solo double bassist with the Düsseldorf Symphony, the orchestra of the Deutsche Oper am Rhein. Since 1984 he has held the same position with the Munich Philharmonic. Besides his orchestral activity, Matthias Weber also makes frequent appearances as a much sought-after soloist and chamber musician. He is a member of the Bayreuth Festival Orchestra and has a teaching position at the Munich Music Academy.
