Tenor Robert Künzli completed his vocal studies in Toronto, Ontario, and made his first stage appearances at the Nationaltheater in Munich as a member of the Opera Studio at the Bavarian State Opera, followed by engagements at the opera houses in Mannheim, Lübeck and Essen. Guest appearances have so far taken Künzli to Karlsruhe, Bonn, Kassel, Dresden, Schwerin, Savonlinna and Carnegie Hall in New York, where he sang the title role in Franz Schubert´s "Fierrabras". Since 1996, Robert Künzli has been on the roster at the State Opera in Stuttgarrt and has appeared there as Loge in "Das Rheingold", Stolzing in "Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg" and Alwa in Alban BergÄs "Lulu". In the current and coming season, Robert Künzli will be singing at major German opera houses, among other roles, the title roles in "Les contes d´Hoffmann" and "Lohengrin", Erik in "Der fliegende Holländer", Shuisky in "Boris Godunov" and Gregor in Janácek´s "Vec Makropoulos" ("The Makropoulos Case"), and roles such as Tamino ("Die Zauberflöte") and Florestan ("Fidelio") also fit seamlessly into Robert Künzli´s widely varied tenor repertoire.
