Ihr Debüt bei den Münchner Philharmonikern feierte Karina Canellakis im Juni 2020 — coronabedingt als »Geisterkonzert« im alten Gasteig. Für den erneuten Besuch in München, diesmal in der Isarphilharmonie, bildet Ludwig van Beethoven den Schwerpunkt. Die »Egmont«- Ouvertüre und Beethovens »Fünfte« thematisieren beide kämpferische und heroische Ideale. Von einem sehr persönlichen Kampf und von innerer Zerrissenheit handelt das 1. Cellokonzert von Schostakowitsch, das mit dem D-Es-C-H-Motiv beginnt, den in Notensprache übertragenen Initialen des Komponisten. Karina Canellakis, die ihre Karriere als Geigerin begonnen hat, legt besonderen Wert auf Transparenz und Stilbewusstsein. Für eine neugierige und energiegeladene Lesart dieser beliebten Werke des Repertoires steht ihr der spanische Cellist Pablo Ferrández zur Seite, der damit gleichzeitig seinen Einstand bei den Philharmonikern gibt.
