Erstmals bei den Münchner Philharmonikern zu erleben ist der junge Dirigent Thomas Guggeis. Thomas Guggeis ist in Straubing aufgewachsen und studierte Dirigieren in München und Mailand. Seit 2020/21 trägt er den Titel Staatskapellmeister der Staatsoper Berlin. Mit Beginn der Saison 2023/24 übernimmt er das Amt des Generalmusikdirektors der Oper Frankfurt. Ebenfalls bei den Münchner Philharmonikern debütieren wird die litauische Sopranistin Asmik Grigorian. Sie springt für Anja Harteros ein, die ihre Mitwirkung bei den Konzerten aus persönlichen Gründen leider absagen musste. Neben den »Vier letzten Liedern« von Richard Strauss wird Asmik Grigorian auch den Liebestod aus Richard Wagners Oper »Tristan und Isolde« in der Isarphilharmonie interpretieren.

Bela Bartok, »Konzert für Orchester«: Der Komponist selbst gab einen Hinweis zur Deutung seines Werkes: »Abgesehen von dem scherzhaften zweiten Satz verwirklicht das Werk im Ganzen den stufenweisen Übergang von der Finsternis des traurigen Klagegesangs des ersten und dritten Satzes zur Lebensbejahung des letzten.« Das Motiv zeigt dementsprechend eine dunkle menschliche Figur, die sich mit einer flehenden Geste vom farbigen, lebensbejahenden Hintergrund abhebt.
