The »INSIDE MPHIL« App

The »INSIDE MPHIL – St. Nikolai« app provides a concert experience of the special kind: Experience the Munich Philharmonic in virtual reality on the meadow behind St. Nikolai chapel near the Gasteig. With this free app, you can watch and listen to the orchestra performing here whenever you want. Equipped only with your GPS-enabled smartphone and a pair of headphones, you can move freely between the orchestra’s instruments. Wander about among the musicians, hear the instruments up close and from different angles – all made possible by the clever smartphone app conceived by sound designer Mathis Nitschke and violist Gunter Pretzel.

The performance you hear is the fourth movement of Robert Schumann’s Symphony No. 1 (»Spring«), recorded with the Munich Philharmonic in March 2019 under the baton of Pablo Heras-Casado.

The free app works with Android from Samsung Galaxy S7 or similar and with iOS from iPhone SE and can be downloaded from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store. Due to the size of the app, we recommend that you download it using Wi-Fi.
