Bavarian Theatre Academy in Munich. She won several prizes at the International Vocal Competition in ’s-Hertogenbosch. Today she’s one of the most demanded sopranos of our time with an outstanding international career in concert and opera.

She sang La Mort in DAS FLOSS DER MEDUSA at The Dutch National Opera, Amsterdam, Weills SIEBEN TODSÜNDEN and Schönbergs PIERROT LUNAIRE at the Opéra du Rhin, Strasbourg, Giunia in LUCIO SILLA at La Monnaie, Brussels and at Teatro alla Scala, Milano, Lucia in LUCIA DI LAMMERMOOR at the Opéra de Lausanne, Konstanze in DIE ENTFÜHRUNG AUS DEM SERAIL at La Scala di Milano and at The Dutch National Opera, Amsterdam, the titlerole in DAS SCHLAUE FÜCHSLEIN at La Monnaie, Brussels. Also she sang Fiordiligi in COSÌ FAN TUTTE at Festival d’Aix-en-Provence. With Händels IL DELIRIO AMOROSO she was invited by the Wiener Philharmoniker, Philadelphia Orchestra and Gewandhausorchester Leipzig, as Gilda in RIGOLETTO at Staatstheater Stuttgart, as Sophie in ROSENKAVALIER at Staatstheater Stuttgart, with Bachs MATTHÄUS-PASSION at the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, as Aspasia in MITRIDATE and as Ophélie in Thomas' HAMLET at La Monnaie, Brussels, at Théâtre des Champs-Elysées, Paris and at Festspielhaus Baden-Baden with a MONTEVERDI-GALA together with Magdalena Kožená and Rolando Villazon, at the Holland Festival as Angelica in Händels ORLANDO (with René Jacobs) as well as at the Salzburger Festspielen as Donna Anna in the new production of DON GIOVANNI.

Lenneke Ruiten works with conductors such as Zubin Mehta, Emmanuelle Haïm, Christoph Eschenbach, John Eliot Gardiner, Marc Minkowski, Christian Thielemann, Iván Fischer, Philippe Jordan, Alessandro de Marchi, Ton Koopman, Ottavio Dantone und Jérémie Rhorer and is invited by orchestras such as Wiener Philharmoniker, Wiener Symphoniker, Orchestre Suisse Romande, The English Baroque Soloists, Mozarteum Orchester, Akademie für Alte Musik, Tonhalle Orchester Zürich, Mahler Chamber Orchestra, Staatskapelle Dresden, Concertgebouw Chamber Orchestra and the Symphonieorchester of the Bavarian Radio. She is frequently invited by festivals such as Salzburger Festspiele, BBC Proms, Festival d’Aix-en-Provence, Mostly Mozart Festival New York, Bachfest Leipzig, Prague Spring Festival, Aldeburgh Festival, Lucerne Festival, Drottningholm Festival and Holland Festival.

Her discography includes MOZART CONCERT ARIAS, BACH CANTATAS, CARMINA BURANA, MÉLODIES FRANÇAISES etc. Lenneke Ruiten has a special passion for Lieder. She works with pianist Thom Janssen and has given recitals in venues including the Amsterdam Concertgebouw, Wigmore Hall, London and the Kaisersaal, Frankfurt.
