Couch Odette

Odette Couch began studying the violin at the age of seven. At eleven she was accepted as a junior student at the Amsterdam Music Academy. Starting in 1985, she continued her studies in Baltimore and New York. She was first a pupil and then an assistant of Sylvia Rosenberg, and attended classes given by Joseph Gingold, Victor Libermann, Earl Calyss and Daniel Ashelomov. In 1993 she won the third prize in the Oscar Back Competition in Amsterdam along with the prize for the best interpretation of a modern work composed for this competition. From 1993 to 1997 she was third assistant concert mistress of the Duisburg Symphony, then deputy concert mistress of the Munich Philharmonic.
