Theresa Kling received her first violin lessons at the age of seven. In 2006, she went to Jorge Sutil, a long-time member of the Munich Philharmonic, and later received additional lessons from Professor Harald Herzl at the Mozarteum University Salzburg. In 2009, she switched to the viola, taking lessons with Jorge Sutil and Tilbert Weigel. In 2010 Theresa Kling won first prize at the national »Jugend musiziert« competition in the viola solo category. Master classes with professors such as Patrick Jüdt, Hatto Beyerle, Herbert Kefer, Hariolf Schlichtig and Kim Kashkashian further boosted her musical education. In October 2010, she was invited to the Kronberg Academy’s chamber music project »Mit Musik – Miteinander«, where she received lessons from Nils Mönkemeyer. She completed her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees with Professor Hariolf Schlichtig at the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich. From September 2015 to August 2017, she was a fellow of the Academy of the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra. Theresa Kling also received scholarships from PE-Förderungen für Studierende der Musik in Mannheim and the Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben foundation in Hamburg. She played as a substitute with the Bamberg Symphony as well as the Bavarian Radio Symphony and Chamber Orchestras. As both soloist and chamber ensemble member, she appeared at the isa Festival Vienna, the Ticino Musica Festival, the Kronberg Academy Festival, the Heidelberger Frühling and the Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. As of the 2020-21 season, Theresa Kling is a member of the Munich Philharmonic’s viola section.
