A native of Schleswig-Holstein, the musician took her first clarinet lessons in her native city of Kiel. There followed further instruction in Hamburg and finally in Berlin, where Annette Maucher studied from 1990 to 1992 with Günter Zeretzke. In 1992 she received a two-year study grand from the Herbert von Karajan Foundation of the Berlin Philharmonic, where she continued her studies with Karl Leister. In 1997, Annette Maucher passed her concert examination at the Hanns Eisler Academy of Music in Berlin. Since the 1996/96 season she serves as deputy principal clarinetist in the Munich Philharmonic.
