»Summer in the City«
In the spirit of »Summer in the City«, Munich will host open-air events for young and old over the holiday period from the end of July to the beginning of September. You are invited to enjoy and linger,
browse market stalls, take fairground rides, attend performances on open-air stages, take part in activities for children and adults, and enjoy sports activities: »Summer in the City« includes many free events in public spaces, of course always in compliance with current hygiene regulations and the required protective measures.
As the city’s premier orchestra, the Munich Philharmonic will also take part in the summer programme. In addition to giving live performances, recorded concerts will be screened on the open-air stage in front of the Gasteig Philharmonic Hall.
Children and their parents and grandparents are invited to a family day of music on Saturday, 29 August, from 1 to 6 p.m. in the Celibidacheforum under the motto »MPhilOpenAir: Die Philis spielen Urlaub« (»The Phillis play holiday«) with body percussion, riddles and, of course, lots of music.
»MPhilOpenAir: Wir sind wieder da« (»We’re back again«) is the motto of the chamber music day on Saturday, 5 September from 1 to 6 p.m. on the stage of the Celibidacheforum. After all, playing together in (much) smaller ensembles has been part and parcel of musicians’ working lives throughout much of the spring and summer. Whether string quartet, woodwind trio or the orchestra’s hornists – there is something here for every music enthusiast!
In addition, every evening at 8 p.m. from 29 August to 5 September, a concert recording will be shown on the big screen in the Celibidacheforum. Experience concert recordings at »#MPhilCinema« with chief conductor Valery Gergiev and renowned guests, including Rudolf Buchbinder, Karina Canellakis, Klaus Mäkelä, Kent Nagano and Alice Sara Ott!
