Manfred Trojahn

Manfred Trojahn, born in 1949 in Cremlingen near Braunschweig, ranks as one of the most renowned composers of his generation. After studies with, among others, Diether de la Motte, György Ligeti and Albert Bittner, Manfred Trojahn´s first orchestral works were performed in 1976, and two years later his Second Symphony received its world première at the Donaueschingen Music Festival. He is active in just about every musical genre - from string quartets to operas. After its 1991 world première at the Schwetzingen Festival, his dramatic comedy "Enrico" was given at the Bavarian State Opera, in Kassel, Saarbrücken and Hanover. Manfred Trojahn´s works have been played all over the world by many major orchestras. In 1996 the Brucknerhaus in Linz put on "Trojahn Days" with chamber music concerts, seminars and an orchestral concert. Besides this, the composer has been active since 1972 as conductor of his own and other people´s works and has conducted many an important orchestra and ensemble.
