Qi Zhou

Born in Sichuan, China, the musician began studying the violin at the age of four with Chaoji Liu, continuing on at eleven to Weiming Hu at the Chengdu Music Academy. From 1995 to 1999 Qi Zhou studied with Yaoji Lin at the Music Academy in Beijing; he also attended master classes in 1995 with Ruggiero Ricci and Kun Ho in London. As early as 1985. Zhou won the first prize at a competition for young violinists, in 1988 he won the 3rd prize at the National Violin Competition in China. Zhou was the Concert Master of the China Youth Symphony Orchestra, played with the Philharmonic of the Nations in Europe, North America and Asia and continues to give regular concerts both as soloist and chamber musician. Since 2001, Qi Zhou has been a member of the second violin section in the Munich Philharmonic.
