Romain Lucas

Romain Lucas was born in France and had his first bassoon lesson when he was eight. He studied with Laurent Lefèvre at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Paris and with Ole Kristian Dahl at the Mannheim University of Music and Performing Arts.

As a long-time member of the French Youth Orchestra and the European Union Youth Orchestra, as well as a scholarship student at the Staatskapelle Berlin, he has played under renowned conductors including Daniel Barenboim, Sir Simon Rattle and Zubin Mehta in concert halls from the Berliner Philharmonie and Carnegie Hall New York to the Concertgebouw Amsterdam. He has taken master classes with Daniele Damiano from the Berliner Philharmoniker, Richard Galler and Carlo Colombo.

He became solo bassoonist at the Badische Staatskapelle in 2015 and has been solo bassoonist at the Munich Philharmonic since 2019.
