The cooperation between Spielfeld Klassik and the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich has been in place for over ten years. The idea of a university concert arose from the common wish to hold concerts especially for students. These continue to be held once a year, when the Munich Philharmonic performs exclusively for students and under-30s. Also each year, students from the university’s Institute of Musicology design a programme booklet for a concert of the Munich Philharmonic.
Once each season, a workshop on the topic of programme booklet design is held in cooperation with the LMU’s Institute of Musicology. In close cooperation with the programme editors, students design the booklet for a concert of the Munich Philharmonic. In the process, they have the chance to attend an orchestra rehearsal and to meet members of the orchestra’s management to gain an insight into the workings of a symphony orchestra.
The Munich Philharmonic’s end-of-semester concerts have long been a firm fixture in the concert schedule. They are held in cooperation with the Ludwig Maximilian University and the Studierendenwerk München.
