Simon Fordham

Born in Melbourne, Australia, Simon Fordham studied violin at the renowned Victorian College of Arts in his home town as well as at the Robert Schumann Hochschule in Düsseldorf. Beginning his career as orchestra musician at the Deutsche Kammerakademie Neuss and the Cologne Chamber Orchestra, Simon Fordham joined the WDR Symphony Orchestra Cologne after completing of his studies. In 1991, he transferred to the Munich Philharmonic as principal second violinist.

Since 1991, Fordham is a member of the legendary Rosamunde Quartet, but left in 2006 to train as a teacher of the Alexander technique. For more than 10 years now, Simon Fordham supervises and teaches the scholarship recipients of the Munich Philharmonic’s orchestra academy.
