In 2012 Vilde Frang was unanimously awarded the Credit Suisse Young Artists Award which led to her debut with the Wiener Philharmoniker under Bernard Haitink at the Lucerne Festival. Her profound musicianship and exceptional lyricism have elevated her as one of the foremost violinists of her generation. She continuesto appear regularly with the world’s leading orchestras including the Berliner Philharmoniker, Concertgebouw Orchestra, Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks, London Symphony Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra of Europe, Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich, Budapest Festival Orchestra, New York Philharmonic and Cleveland Orchestra. She also appears regularly as a soloist at leading international festivals, including the BBC Proms, Salzburg and Lucerne Festivals. She has enjoyed collaborations with conductors including Kirill Petrenko, Sir Simon Rattle, Bernard Haitink, Herbert Blomstedt, Esa-Pekka Salonen, Mariss Jansons, Ivan Fischer, Maxim Emelyanychev, Jakub Hrůša, Vladimir Jurowski, Manfred Honeck, Teodor Currentzis, Daniel Harding, Antonio Pappano, Lahav Shani, Paavo Järvi, Robin Ticciati and Gustavo Dudamel. Highlights of the current season include her return to Berlin Philharmoniker, Staatskapelle Dresden, London Philharmonic Orchestra, Los Angeles Philharmonic and Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France. Vilde makes her debut with Japan Philharmonic Orchestra at Suntory Hall and embarks on an extensive European tour with Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen. A keen and prominent chamber musician, Vilde regularly appears at the festivals in Verbier, Lockenhaus, George Enescu Festival, Salzburg Festival and the Prague Spring Music Festival. She also appears regularly in recital at Carnegie Hall, Concertgebouw, Vienna Musikverein, Philharmonie Berlin, Tonhalle Zurich and the Bozar in Brussels, as well in North America as part of the Vancouver Recital Series, Boston Celebrity Series and San Francisco Performances. This season, Vilde Frang is Artist in Residence at the Ascona Festival, where she will give masterclasses to young musicians and curate a programme alongside close collaborators including Lawrence Power, Ilya Gringolts, Maximilian Hornung and Bertrand Chamayou. A passionate advocate for music education, she has developedmeaningful connections with the next generation of musicians, including through her work with students at Barratt Due Musikkinstitutt in Oslo, Juilliard School in New York and the Royal Academy of Music, where she was recently appointed as an Honorary Member. Vilde Frang is an exclusive Warner Classics artist and her recordings have received numerous awards, including the Edison Klassiek Award, “Diapason d’Or” by Diapason Magazine, Deutsche Schallplattenpreis, Grand Prix du Disque, BBC Music Magazine and two Gramophone Awards. Born in Norway, Vilde was engaged by MarissJansons at the age of twelve to debut with Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra. She studied at Barratt Due Musikkinstitutt in Oslo, with Kolja Blacher at Musikhochschule Hamburg and Ana Humachenco at the Kronberg Academy. Vilde performs on a 1734 Guarneri del Gesu, generously loaned to her by a European benefactor.
