Georg Pfirsch (born 1989 in Munich) began his music education at the age of six years. As a student of former Munich Philharmonic Jorge Sutil, he was, from 2006, also tutored by Igor Ozim. Following his acceptance as young student at the Mozarteum in Salzburg in 2007, he commenced studies at the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich with Mi-kyung Lee, which he continued with a master’s degree following his graduation. Master classes with Maxim Vengerov, Christian Tetzlaff, Ulf Wallin and James Ehnes further expanded his artistic education.
In 2007, the violinist achieved first place at the national Jugend musiziert competition, obtaining the highest possible score in the Solo Violin category. Since 2006 he regularly appears as soloist with various orchestras both at home and abroad, including the ODEON Jugendsinfonieorchester München, the Symphonie-Orchester Crescendo München, the Junges Orchester also in Munich, Collegium Instrumentale Stuttgart, Camerata Ulm and the Bad Reichenhaller Philharmonie.
From 2013 to 2015, Georg Pfirsch was academy player at the Herbert von Karajan Orchester-Akademie of the Berlin Philharmonics under the tutorship of Christian Stadelmann. As a seasoned scholar of the Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben foundation, which aims to support young talent, he plays a Nicolo Gagliano violin (Naples, about 1755–60) from the foundation’s music instrument fund. In October 2016 he joined the first violins of the Munich Philharmonics.
