Her personality and charisma, her understanding of music and her technical brilliance make Teresa Zimmermann one of the young generation’s leading harpists. Since September 2014, she has been solo harpist with the Munich Philharmonic under Valery Gergiev. Prior to that she played in the same position in the Philharmonia Orchestra London under Esa-Pekka Salonen since 2013. For many years she has been performing as a guest in the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, the German Symphony Orchestra, the Gewandhaus Orchestra, the NDR Elbe Philharmonic Orchestra, the Paris Radio Orchestra and the Staatskapelle Berlin. She has received numerous prizes and awards at important international harp competitions in Cardiff, Munich, Tel Aviv and Genoa and won first prize in the German University Competition in Freiburg. She has given solo concerts with the Duisburg Philharmonic, the Warsaw Symphony Orchestra, the Konzerthausorchester Berlin, the Neubrandenburg Philharmonic, the Kurpfälzisches Kammerorchester Mannheim and the Orchestra of the Jeunesse Musicales. She has also performed at the Mecklenburg Music Festival, the Braunschweig-Classix-Festival and the Movimentos Music Festival in Wolfsburg. In 2011 she was recorded by TV channel ARTE under the moderation of Rolando Villàzon for the programme "Stars of tomorrow". Born in Hanover as the daughter of two pianists, Teresa Zimmermann received her first harp lessons at the age of six. In 2008 she completed her studies with Maria Graf at the Hochschule für Musik "Hanns Eisler" in Berlin with distinction in the soloist class.
Teresa Zimmermann held scholarships of the Jürgen Ponto Foundation of the Dresdener Bank, the "Gerd Bucerius Scholarship of the ZEIT Foundation at the Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben" and the Gotthard Schierse Foundation Berlin. From 2011 to 2015, she taught harp at the Hanover University of Music, Drama and Media.
