Wolfram Lohschütz was born in Bad Kissingen and received his first violin lessons at the age of five. At the tender age of seven, he was already a student of Gerd Hoelscher at the Music Academy in Würzburg. He won several first prizes from the "Jugend musiziert" competition. Following secondary school, Wolfram Lohschütz studied with Igor Ozim in Cologne and Bern. A scholarship enabled him to study at New York´s Juilliard School with Dorothy DeLay. He attended master classes given by Max Rostal, Yfrah Neaman and Valery Klimov and received his chamber music education from the Amadeus and Juilliard Quartet as well as from Samuel Sanders. Wolfram Lohschütz has worked, among others, with the Mainz Chamber Orchestra, the German Chamber Academy in Neuss and the Bach Kollegium in Stuttgart and was concert master under Leonard Bernstein at the 1989 Schlewig-Holstein Festival. Since 1990 Wolfram Lohschütz has been first violinist in the Munich Philharmonic and gives concerts at home and abroad with the Manhattan String Trio of Munich.
