Alexander Maria Möck was born in 1969 in Lauingen on the Danube. At the age of six, he started instruction with Aurelian Minculescu, who taught him the basics of violin playing and to whom he owes several prizes from the "Jugend musiziert" competition. While still in secondary school, Alexander Möck began his studies with Lydia Dubrovskaya at the Leopold Mozart Conservatory in Augsburg. After graduation, he continued his studies at the Music Academy in Munich with Ernö Sebestyen and Yuko Inagaki-Notas. He received further important impuses from the master classes given by Rainer Kussmaul, Max Rostal, Christoph Poppen, Hariolf Schlichtig, Franz Beyer and Walther Nothas. Alexander Möck played in the Munich Chamber Orchestra as well as the Bavarian State Orchestra before joining the Munich Philharmonic in 1997, becoming leader of the second violins in 1998.
