Bertrand Chatenet

Born in Paris, Bertrand Chatenet began his horn lessons with Patrice Petitdidier at the Gennevilliers Conservatory and then studied with Jérôme Rouillard. He completed his chamber music studies with Paul Meyer and Eric Lesage. In 2009, he went to Germany to study with Erich Penzel, Christian Lampert and Christoph Ess at the Musikhochschule Stuttgart and then with Christian-Friedrich Dallmann and Sebastian Posch at the Universität der Bildenden Künste Berlin.

After working as a soloist at the Berliner Staatsoper and in the Konzerthausorchester Berlin, he has been principal horn with the Münchner Philharmoniker since December 2021. He is a frequent guest with world-renowned orchestras such as the London Symphony Orchestra, the Stockholm Radio, the Orchestre de Paris and the Sydney Symphony Orchestra and has already played under renowned conductors such as Daniel Barenboim, Zubin Mehta, Klaus Mäkelä, Mariss Jansons, Gustavo Dudamel and Simon Rattle. He has performed as a soloist with the Deutsches Sinfonieorchester on the stage of the Berlin Philharmonie and with the Konzerthaus Berlin under the direction of Christophe Eschenbach.

He was a lecturer at the Berlin University of the Arts and has been Professor of Horn at the Haute École de Musique in Geneva since 2022, succeeding Bruno Schneider.
