Born in the German city of Ulm, cellist Korbinian Bubenzer has performed at festivals such as the Gstaad Menuhin Festival, in concert halls ranging from the Berliner Philharmonie to Suntory Hall in Tokyo and with conductors such as Zubin Mehta, Mariss Jansons and Herbert Blomstedt. The cellist joined the Munich Philharmonic in 2021.
Korbinian Bubenzer, whose career includes guest performances with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra Amsterdam, the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra and the Chamber Orchestra of Europe, initially studied the cello in under Thomas Grossenbacher at the Zurich University of the Arts in Switzerland. Continuing his studies with Troels Svane at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler Berlin and the University of Music Lübeck, he graduated with distinction in the summer of 2018. He gained further formative input at master classes with Natalia Gutman, Wolfgang Boettcher and Martin Ostertag. In recent years, he delved more deeply into the field of early music and historical performance practice with tuition from experts such as Ton Koopman, Raphael Alpermann and Hans-Jürgen Schnoor.
Also active as an arranger, Korbinian Bubenzer has been publishing his own arrangements for cello ensemble with Swiss music publisher »Edition Kunzelmann« since 2020. He plays a 2012 cello of Parisian luthier Stephan von Baehr.
