Aus kalendarischen Gründen werden die mit Zubin Mehta geplanten Konzerte am 8. und 9. Juni 2023 von Mirga Gražinytė-Tyla übernommen. Als Eröffnungsstück erklingt statt Schuberts Ouvertüre zu »Rosamunde« die romantische Tondichtung »Miske« des litauischen Komponisten Mikalojus K. Čiurlionis. Der Rest des Programms bleibt unverändert. Die Münchner Philharmoniker danken Mirga Gražinytė-Tyla für die Übernahme des Dirigats und freuen sich, ihren Ehrendirigenten Zubin Mehta in der Saison 2023/24 endlich wiederzusehen. 

Das Duett-Concertino von Richard Strauss hatte mit Andersens Märchen vom Schweinehirten ebenfalls eine außermusikalische Vorlage. Mit den beiden Solo-Instrumenten, gespielt von unseren Orchester-Mitgliedern Alexandra Gruber und Raffaele Giannotti, beschwört Strauss in plastisch gezeichneten Charakteren eine heitere Märchenwelt. Claude Debussy und Maurice Ravel gelten als die Ikonen des französischen Impressionismus und werden oft – zu Unrecht – über einen Kamm geschert. Mirga Gražinytė-Tyla zeigt mit Debussys »La Mer« und Ravels zweiter »Daphnis et Chloé«-Suite die Unterschiede zwischen impressionistischer Mystifizierung der Natur auf der einen Seite und einer architektonisch meisterhaft gestalteten Klangdramaturgie andererseits.

Das Plakatmotiv illustriert Claude Debussys »La Mer« in Form einer Boje auf hoher See. Der Komponist bringt in seinem Werk das Meer in seiner Unfasslichkeit zum Ausdruck. So darf das Publikum die Boje als eine Art Sicherheit, als einen Orientierungspunkt in der respekteinflößenden Weite des Meeres sehen.
